I bought this because I needed a car charger for my Touch. The FM transmission was a bonus.

It came with NO instructions of any kind; thankfully I had previously had a similar FM transmitter and was able to figure it out.

The sound transmitted through the radio is only so-so. Whether this is a function of the product quality, the current state of this technology, or my own shortcomings in setup, I don’t know. BUT, it charges my Touch just great. No quibbles.

I like to hook up my iPod to whatever vehicle I’m driving when I’m at work, and twice I tried the more convenient retractable MP3 audio input cable, I think the brand might have been Belkin or Realtec or one of the big brands that make iPod accessorys. However, both times the hardware falls short- within weeks of use, it was necessary to twist the cable around because it was losing contact, and within months it just quit.
This Monster cable is solid and well built. I don’t forsee any of the same problems that I had with the more cheaply-made retractable cables. Monster makes quality products that are built to last- I still use Monster cables from my first surround sound system at home that I purchased in 2000.

Out of the box, it works really well. Don’t over-tighten it, and you’re good. But if you add the optional extension, which is absurdly difficult to install because the joint of the extra extension is really REALLY tight and difficult to pop into place, your chosen iphone/ipod device might cause the arm to wobble on relatively minor divots in roads more than you might like. The solution is to arrange the device in a way that one side rests on a part of the dashboard.
